Decorating your walls can be a challenge. There are many things you have to take into consideration. You want to make sure you position the item so it’s at eye level. You also want to hang up something without putting holes in your walls. And if you are hanging up multiple items in one spot, you’re trying to figure out how to arrange them. All of these thoughts run through your mind when determining how to decorate your walls.
But the first thing that you should worry about is what to put up. You could hang up a painting or pictures. But if you are looking for something that will really catch eyes. Why not try a wall sculpture? These three-dimensional pieces have a life-like feel to them that no painting or picture can come close to. They come in a variety of different shapes and designs. They can be sculpted as trees, flowers, the sun, masks (ex. African masks), and much more. Hang them anywhere you like.
If you want to get really creative, you can create a theme in every room with multiple pieces. Tree wall sculptures in one room, butterfly wall sculptures in another, etc.. Do whatever compliments the overall style of your home.
Wall sculptures can be fun decorating items and if you have a family member or friend who loves to decorate, wall sculptures make excellent gifts.

Vases are one of my favorite things to decorate with. Even though they are traditionally used to hold flowers, they can be used for a variety of other things. They can be a centerpiece, you can put potpourri or beads in them, or you can just leave them empty. The Ancient Greeks are known to have painted stories onto vases.
Vases come in all sizes and can be made from numerous materials like; clay, lacquer, or crystal. I really love decorating with crystal, and the Waterford crystal vase, I pictured above would make a lovely centerpiece. Vases can be placed in any room, from the bedroom to the kitchen. Decorate around them or in them, it’s your choice. You don’t have to confine them to being just flower pots.

Don’t be afraid to experiment with designs from different cultures. Try something different. Try something that is Asian, African, or Middle Eastern inspired. Don’t limit yourself to what you normally would buy.
So instead of a lamp like this:
Try a baroque style lamp like this:

When it comes to decorating many people overdue it. They put too much detail into a room to make it “look nice”, but instead the room ends up looking overdone. Even though I emphasize adding minor details to your room’s decor, I will also emphasize you be moderate when adding minor details. Too many things will only clutter your room. So please keep it simple!

You don’t have to place all these candles on your coffee table at once, because then no one will have room to put their coffee.

Lanterns have been around for centuries, particularly the candle lantern. Because at one time fire was the only source of light at night time, lanterns were created in order to prevent wind from blowing out a candle’s fire. But since the widespread use of electricity, lanterns are rarely seen anymore. The only time you ever really see them now is during Halloween.
So why am I writing about them on a home decor blog? Well, you can use lanterns as an exotic way to decorate your home. A lantern properly situated in your living or dining room is sure to get the attention of house guests. And if you just want something different to place your candles on, a lantern is perfect. Jenan’s Boutique offers a wide variety of lanterns, including Moroccan and Asian inspired ones.
All lanterns are portable and most of them can be hung from walls. It doesn’t matter if your lantern is a minor detail or a centerpiece it will add a unique look to any room’s decor.

If you have been planning for months to redecorate your living room. Stop procrastinating and making excuses on why you can’t. Instead sit down and evaluate what you want to accomplish with a room(s). Once you figure out what you want to accomplish, start off small by writing down the top three things that you need to do for your project. Once you complete that list make another one with the next top three things you need to do. Taking small steps will lead to big results.

A term I use a lot on this blog is “The Minor Details”. A Minor Detail is a small item whether a candle, a figurine, or a pillow that completes the overall look and style of a room. A Minor Detail is so important because it gives the room a special touch, it shows that you put the extra effort to make a certain room beautiful.
If you feel there is something missing in a room you are decorating, maybe you need something small to add to the room that can help complete the overall look. You may not have to go buy new bedspreads or buy a new desk.
The products that are sold on Jenan’s Boutique are mostly Minor Details. So check them out.

I love candles! They are so versatile. You can put them in room as the perfect minor detail. Not to mention they smell great too! But you don’t even have to burn them if you don’t want to. And if they are enclosed in glass you can even use them as a paperweight!
Now there are two types of candles you can buy: decorative candles and regular candles.
Decorative candles, usually have a unique design or are all white, such as, pillar, cube, and votive candles. They are usually not enclosed in glass. Since they are for decorative purposes, they can be situated anywhere.
This pillar candle is the perfect example of a decorative candle.
If you do eventually plan to burn these candles, then please use a proper candle holder to prevent melted wax from getting everywhere.
Regular candles are mostly for burning. And more often then not they are enclosed in glass.
An example of a regular candle.
The reason you shouldn’t use these for home decor is because they usually have those tacky, sticky labels on them. The only time you can use these candles for home decor is if you are able to get the labels completely off without any trace of them whatsoever.
So go and buy yourself some candles and start decorating or scenting your home.
